Wim Hof – How The Ice Man masters the Immune System
Those Dutch, don’t you just love ‘em? Not just able to dig a decent dyke they can also whittle a clog or two if you’ve got ten minutes to spare and they’ve got a chisel. Ok, less stereotypically, Dutchman Wim Hof, aka ‘The Ice Man’ rewires our presumptions of what IS actually, humanly, possible. Wim does many things that we can’t, well not without a decent bit of practise. He trains people to focus, breathe deeply and exhale consciously as aids to help reduce: depression, fear, anxiety and chronic pain. As the holder of 20 World records (including being submerged in ice for two hours) – he shows he’s truly special. But, he trains others to do these remarkable feats too, so they can climb icy mountain peaks in just their shorts and bare feet. “We have to get rid of the CO2 in the body, we have to get oxygenated, so that the oxygen is enriched. Concentrated mind focus helps you to access the hormones which make you stronger: dopamine, serotonin and adrenaline”. Heal from the inside, naturally – a mantra that takes your breath away and possibly even a need for unnatural drugs too?
